old PSP game player -- always UMD's though
solid regular computer user - not afraid of code/installs or mod's
took my old Phat PSP (1001?) and recently modified from 2.0v down to 1.5v using your websites info/links.... well done and thanks !
installed one homebrew game on MS and it works fine.
I have spent 2 days reading postings from PSP-hacks and dl.qj.net and afterdawn too... Cannot seem to get quite the answers i need and worried about doing things i do not need to do....
so please give me your expert opinions on below simple questions so i can move forward in using PSP to full extent now....playing games on both UMD and MS
** note > my "full extent" is not what others would be ... i truly want to use for games only .. homebrews and iso's. just fyi
questions
1. I lost my internet icon during downgrade. easy fix or download?
2. I downloaded a custom theme but now see no theme setting icons.. fix or cannot with 1.5v ?
3. confused on my next step..... games!
homebrews can only play on 1.5v ? ISO's can only play on 1.5v ? i want both (AND my umd Socom) ... without having to keep upgrading/downgrading how can i play:
a. homebrews
b. Socom
c. ISO's
? does this mean just downloading a emulater ? some site told me DEVHOOK is a outdated ISO loader/software now.... so i did not download that ... what is your best ideas for running all 3 game types above without switching versions back/forth?
4. CFW -- Can i download CFW's, what versions... and do i even NEED to do this?
5. When reviewing games to download, how do i know they will work on 1.5v ? or do games now all come with Emulators to make this work anyway?
Again, i really tried to spend time reading old posts back to 2006 and newer but just could not find something that would answer these basic Newbie questions. Sorry in advance to those that answer questions like this constantly ..... but really feel this site is the best site to ask and get good, solid help.
Any replies greatly appreciated.
Best Regards
robert
to simply solve most of your problems upgrade to 5.00 m33-6 from 1.5 because there is no available theme option unless you tinker with the flash 0 in 1.5 but the option is available in 5.0 and most new games require a certain system firmware to play it so 1.5 wouldnt be able to play much isos. For your internet question there was no internet browser on 1.5 it didnt become available until 2.0 before we had to use wipeout if we was on 1.5 but now once again you can upgrade to 5.0 m33. And you only need cwcheat if you want to well (cheat) but other then that like i said before upgrade to 5.00m33-6 because it will fix all your problems and not only can you play isos and homebrews but you will be able to play ps1 games with the playstation emulator that been available since 3.0
i had read a posting (again old posting from 2006) when researching all this over the last few days.... something about NOT being able to skip upgrade versions. i will check more postings now but can i upgrade direct from 1.5v up to CFW 5.0 m33 or is there a "in between" upgrade i must do first?
from the sound of your post, i assume that no "launcher" or special drivers needed for playing games with CFW 5.00M33-6 ? and i can still play homebrews and ISO's ? Pretty neat.
Again, new to this and really kind of neat to be able to play via MS and carry many games when travelling.... without UMD's !
oh, i did have internet before.... i was not aware of all this security things with Sony and other games available and had upgraded via internet option (2.0v) on my PSP.... just last week i used this site and downgraded to 1.5v .... went pretty much as posted (one slight glitch!ha) ... but all shows 1.5v now.... so i did have internet and played online games via wireless connection.... assume i get this back when i go to the above CFW version.... hopefully !!
Greatly appreciate the time taken to help me...
Thank you again
robert
1 - If you are under official 1.50 PSPfirmware, copy kxploitpatcher and kxploitpatcher% folders from "1.50only/" of this download to your "ms0:/PSP/GAME/" and use it.
2 - Once done it, or if you are under any Special/Open Edition/M33, copy M33CREATOR folder to your "ms0:/PSP/GAME" (1.50fw) or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150" (SE/OE)
3 - Download official 3.52 eboot, rename it to 352.PBP and place it on "ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/"
4 - Download official 1.50 eboot, rename it to 150.PBP and place it on "ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/"
5 - Go to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute "3.52 M33 CREATOR". Once finished, it will go back to the XMB.
6 - Go again to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute "3.52 M33UPDATE". You'll have to press X to agree to the installation.
7 - When finished, press X to shut down and reboot manually.
8 - Enjoy your 3.52 M33 ;)
Here is the latest update:
- Now uses 3.52!!!
- M33 NO-UMD: fixed problem with Simple 2500 Series Portable, The IQ Cube - Fix a bug which made Go!Cam, GPS and sceKernelLoadExecVSH* not work in game mode.
- PSN downloaded PSX games support wasn't working in 3.51 M33 (didn't work in latest OE's either). Now it is working again. If an original PSN game still doesn't work, we recommend to delete files KEYS.BIN if exists, and copy the game again from ps3 to psp.
Team M33
So pretty much after that you will need to upgrade to 4.01
