Hi:

I downloaded a DVD video in PAL format which was 4.32 GB in size. I burned the disc and it plays great on a stand-alone DVD player.
I wanted to convert to NTSC VOB file format for someone that cannot play PAL discs on a stand-alone player. I used Digital Media Converter Pro 1.3 to convert the VOB files to NTSC and then IfoEdit to make the BUP and IFO files. The resulting converted DVD file in NTSC format plays perfectly on my PC but is now 6.1 GB in size. I wanted to use DVD Shrink 3.2 to allow the NTSC video to fit on a standard blank DVD, but when I open the Video_TS folder nothing else opens (there is no Main Title that opens in DVD Shrink when reauthoring). The Video_TS folder for the PAL version has a Main Title. Nero's wizard works to burn the NTSC disc but warns that the size exceeds a standard DVD capacity. I understand the loss of resolution once shrinking, but what have I done incorrectly that DVD Shrink 3.2 does not recognize the Main Title in the Video_TS folder after converting to NTSC?

Thank you.

Adam

Before closing IfoEdit, did you do the 'VOB Extras' step.
I often find that DVD Shrink refuses to open the files from IfoEdit unless this step is used.

Hi:

Thank you for responding. No, I did not do this additional step. I will open IfoEdit, make new BUP and IFO files, and then select "VOB Extras".

Thank you.

You don't have to make new ones.

From now on:

Use DVD Fab HD Decrypter to rip it.
VobBlanker to transfer to NTSC (VERY easy--never fails)
Then DVD Shrink to reapportion and redistribute, or shrink, if necessary.
I have never had a PAL/NTSC transfer fail this way. To be sure, re-recheck the file through VobBlanker to be sure it is now NTSC.

Good luck.

Hi:

VobBlanker is not intuitive to use. I loaded the IFO file from the PAL Video_TS folder, and the VOB1 file loaded in the middle pane. The output folder is different than the PAL folder. How do I direct the software to convert each VOB file in PAL format to NTSC? I right-clicked the VOB1 file in the middle pane and changed the format or attribute to NTSC. The software went to completion, but I checked each VOB file in GSpot.exe and the files are still in PAL format.
Thanks in advance for some instructions.
