So I'm getting a DRE, which I've read up on tons and tons, but I don't think it's a laser issue.

I have 2 broken PS2's (go figure), one's an old model and one's a slim.

The slim will give me a DRE on PS2 games, and will not even attempt to load DVD's.

The fat (older) PS2 will read a few PS2 games, will read DVD's, and gives me a DRE on PS1 games only about half the time. While taking the lid off to adjust the laser, I've come to find that the PS1 games will not load if the door closes properly, but occasionally it will read the Disc, and when I try to eject the tray it gets a little stuck. If it stays stuck, it tends to read... while if I fix the issue and let it eject all of the way out and back in again, it fails to read.

Any idea as to how to fix this sort of issue? I haven't tried to work on the slim PS2 yet so I don't expect any help on that yet :). But I find the older model PS2 issue to be quite a frustrating matter since it actually works.. about half the time.

For the Slim PS2, I've found that the system wont even attempt to read DVD based games, it will attempt to read PS1/CD based games, but get a DRE... will have to look further into that.
