Okay I have ubuntu 9.10 on my PS3

My monitor has the following:

1080p
1080i
720p
420p

and the resolution is 1680x1050, and im using an HDMI to DVI-D cable and I use the AV cords for my audio.

now from what ive tried in terminal I tried all of them but not many work, and the ones that do arent what I want

ps3videomode -v (ANY NUMBER) -f doesnt work
ps3videomode -v (anything but 1) doesnt wokr

basically I have no clue...
