Need your help.. I just bought ps2- pal 90004. I have learnt that to run the backup games you need to get mod chip installed in the hardware. I want to know will the performace of ps2 remain the same and all the function will work normally once i get mod chip installed. It is better to install mod chip or to use swap magic ?
Modchip is easy to use after you have it installed and i recommed it. They got all neat features and you can just basicly forget the chip after it's installed in place.
Installing modchip is difficult though, it's easy to break your console if you're not careful. So, if you aren't familiar with soldering tiny wires you should get some installing service, which shouldn't be hard to find. Might be a bit expensive but well worth it.
Swapdisk works fine and might seem good choice at first, but using it is annoying as you have to swap around so much. Unless you plan to install fliptop, which makes using it bit less painfull, i can't recommend swapdisk.
One other option is FMCB memory card mod, i'm not familiar with PS2 model numbers so i can't say right off the bat if it would work with your console or not... If it's new PS2 then propably won't work. Anyway FMCB is easiest way around as you don't have to physically mod your console in any way and you don't need to swap disks either. Only trick is, that you have to have some method to get it installed on your MC, which usually means something like swapdisk. Also possible to install on some other console that's already modded.
