Hi, I'm new here and I have joined the BluRay issue family; I found very useful information here but one thing I haven't found is a repository of information relating to what I'm asking which in turn help everyone else making an informed purchased and limiting the headaches of going through piss poorly refurbished lasers. I'm trying to collect information on the topic above. I would like to know if you sent your PS3 to SONY for repairs on the BluRay issue and how long it lasted or if it still running. Stay on topic please, I'm trying to gather information, so folks like myself don't end up all over the net buying piss poor BluRay refurbished lasers (KEM-400AAA, KES-400A, KEM-410ACA and KES-410ACA) that will burn up in a short time; then again you are surfing around tryung to strike gol with a one that works.

1. Did you send your PS3 to SONY for repairs in regards to the BluRay issue? Yes or No

a. If Yes, When did you sent it and is it still running without BluRay issues?
b. If it's not running any longer, how long did it work for?
c. How many times have you sent it to SONY for repairs in the BluRay issue?

2. If you had BluRay issues but didn't send it to SONY, how did you fixed it?

a. Local shop?
b. DIY ebay drive? If so, who was the seller? Did he sell you a new OEM drive or a refurbished drive?
c. DIY online vendor? If so, whhat is the vendors site? Did they sell you a new OEM drive or a refurbished drive?

Thanks
Raf

hi there

dont know how much help this will be but i'll give it a try....

i had same probs with blue ray drive that it just wouldnt play any god damn blu ray disks, now other disks were fine atthe time normal dvd disks,cd disks all played fine just not blue ray.
also i noticed that the under the right hand side of the ps3 there was soo much heat coming from there prob the disk drive over working or something that im not sure.

however i did look on youtube about how to clean the blue ray drive (loads of vids on youtube about it) after looking at a few vids i attemped to open my machine as warrenty was gone after getting toit and cleaning the lens my ps3 did start to read ps3 games again yayyy job done!! UNTIL a few weeks later and then i end up getting the yellow light of death so realistacally do it with your own will or you can try a place called consoledoctor just google it. they have options about how top fix ps3 and im going to send my ps3 away sohe can fix my prob.

hope a bit of this helped if not soz.
