Imo, CoD:WaW was a big disappointment. I would much rather have Infinity Ward working on the Call of Duty series. Call of Duty 4 was probably the best and most realistic game I have ever played, and then when I jumped back to the World War II era, it just messed everything up.. I think Treyarch should just sit back and leave the game making to the professionals. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

I might be in the minatory with this but I really like COD:WAW, even more than COD 4 I think.

Granted some things were annoying like tanks (drives me mad people just sitting in tanks blowing up everything) and dogs can be a pain but not if your the one calling them in.

Zombies was a fantastic idea I'm sure Infinity Ward will be using that idea or something similar for their up coming game and why not Treyarch nicked everything else, its good to share makes for a better experience for us punters.

I think I liked COD: WAW better because I liked the World War 2 experience more then the wars in Middle Eastern region. To me it seems greener, more grass, trees etc, rather than beige/dull colours. Not all levels before people want to shoot me down but it just seemed to me quite a few.

If Infinity Ward did the World War 2 experiance again with all the new bells and whistles of the new engine it might have been better but we will never know as they didn't make it.

I'm glad Treyarch are making another COD as Infinity Ward will be busy making their own game and when it's released they will be doing patches and additional content so this game isn't stopping them from making another COD its just in addition to what Infinity Ward would have done anyway so its an extra game we would not have other wise got.

I guess it come down to if you don?t like the World War 2 experience don?t buy the game.

At the end of the day this is just my opinion and I?d say well done to both companies and I look forward to both COD 6 & 7.

If they do that i will kill myself.

Well, overexaggeration, but they're supposed to be serious games... Leave zombies to capcom, ok?

Hmmm... I also kind of disagree with you here, though it's a fair point. I'm guessing by your comments you never played Call of Duty 1 and 2 on the PC (You should - and actually, Call of Duty 2 came out on the 360 as well, if you have that console). I still regard them as absolutely great games, certainly on par with Call of Duty 4, hugely surpassing 5. Guess who made those two games? That's right, Infinity Ward.

They had great storylines and i wish i still had them, because i'd certainly play them again. Call of Duty 3 was also a low point in the series, along with 5, and quess who made 3? Yes, Treyarch.

They're just not as good as Infinity Ward...

Anyway, back to the suggestion i was making up above; if you like 5 because it was WW2, you should love 1 and 2. Also, as you can see, so far 4 has been the only "modern" Call of Duty game, and so for me (someone who has played every game in the series at some point or another) it was a refreshing change. Bring on Modern Warfare 2.

I'd put money on them putting something like zombies in. Its an extra aside from the main parts of the game (single player and main online part). I thought it was a bit of fun only played it a couple of times though but its ok for a bit of fun. Its something for nothing makes you feel like you getting just a little bit more for your money. They might not put zombies in, they might try something else and I hope they do as zombies has been done, but it will probably be something just to be a bit of fun

I think COD:WAW is still a serious game though you only get zombies on the extra side part of the game not in the main campaign or online.

I mainly only play online really, so as far as story lines go you got me there I have no idea which one is better really. I played a bit of the single player for both but always just went back to online.

Your right though I've not really played the earlier COD games so that's probably why I haven't got sick of World War 2. As I normally only play the online part though I'm not sure the earlier CODs would be for me but thanks for the suggestion.

Anyway I wan't trying to start a war they are both great games. My main point was Treyarch is not taking something away from Infinity Ward its an extra game on top of what Infinity Ward is doing. Maybe people should give Treyarch a break they do get a lot of bad press.

Top honours have always got to go to Infinity Ward cause these new version that are coming are coming cause they did all the hard work with COD 4.

Haha, one of my friends is another person that buys games for the multiplayer :P

As much as i love games like Call of Duty online, i think you're really missing something if you don't play single player :) Just look at Half Life 2 or Bioshock or Portal or something; there's no multiplayer to be seen and they're all really great games.

I really enjoyed CoD 4's single player. I thought it had a great storyline and was well thought out.

I was pretty satisfied with Cod:WaW's single player but, to me, Infinity Ward just did an all over better job.

I really enjoy CoD 4 a heck of a lot more than CoD:WaW. That's just my opinion though..

I totally agree with you Half Life 2, Bioshock and Portal are fantastic games and I have completed them all. Got the Orange Box on the 360 and played though all the episodes one after the other, I also had the original half life on PC. I used to play the original Wolfenstein on the PC and I'm looking forward to the new version of that comming out as well. I really liked the old xbox version that came out a while back, single and online parts.

I don't always skip the single player part of a game its just with COD the online part I find so good I start the single player part and think I'd rather be playing online, which lasts for ages, and unfortunately I don't have the time I used to play games anymore.

I will give the single player another shot as you have both recommended, but I didn't find the single player to grab me and keep me interested as much as games like half life or bio shock.

i hear the new setting was going to be in vietnam, i dont know how good the endings going to be because u know we (the U.S) evacuated, but back onto COD WAW theres was a lot of bugs during Single player, and little things like tank and soilders coming out the forest while the trees are left standing even though a tanks plowing through

Your friend in nam is not lying. She has a modded PS2, and the modder was generous enough to relabel the PS2 to PS3.
Then the pirate selling games relabeled Assassins Creed 1 and called it Assassins Creed 2. This is called marketing.
Your friend is honest and thinks she plays AC2 on a PS3. In reality she is playing AC1 on a PS2.

I'm not going to pay a cent for it if its another reskin of IW's work. I was already pissed at myself for buying WaW against my better judgment. If anything they can make an expansion pack that you could buy on the PSN or XBL but Treyarch has no right simply reskinning someone elses work slapping their brand name on it and making us pay full price for a reskinned version of something we already own.

Kinda true that... They didn't really update the engine much.

Also, interestingly enough, i feel the only good contribution they've made to the Call of Duty series IS an expansion: Call of Duty United Offensive. Nice add-on to the first game on PC.

I like WaW but I do agree that it is nothing more than a re-skin for COD4. Can't really no I don't want to do that since Activision has the last say. If they say make a WWII version they hey I guess Treyarch had to. Fact is even though WaW did not sell as well as COD 4 it still sold and people are buying the DLC for it and more is coming in June. I wish that COD4 is getting more DLC but its not. Zombie mode is a nice touch when you want to get away from TDM's and other mode. Myself and 3 friends play it every Sunday and we have gotten to level 29(no cheat).
Sorry to say that I don't think we've seen the last of a WWII FPS.

waw was a ok, but they good of focussed on the bigger battles of ww2, adn i think cod4 sold more bc it was the first moder warfare game from call of duty, id like to see them make a futuristic warfare type game, hopefuly doing better then how bf2142 ended up.
also HL2 and HL1 both had multiplayer, called hl2 deathmatch or with HL1 deathmatch source. would like to see a portal multipalyer, u shoot portals under people and u get sent to some room surounded by turrets xD

I like COD4 and WAW. I switch back and forth between the two quite often. The only difference to me besides the vehicles is that COD4 seems quicker paced than WAW. The tanks are never a problem just avoid them. As for the dogs I can usually knife them or shoot them easily. The dogs on hardcore are the ones you have to watch out for. All in all I was quite happy with Treyarch on this one.

Any of you guys watch the Microsoft E3 Keynote? MW2 was shown for the first time; they played through one of the snow levels - the graphics aren't much better than the first but the game looks pretty awesome story-wise :)
