I bought a E74 error box on ebay. It takes the power supply with the square in the middle. In the past, I have broken this to use my power supply with it. Question is, does this void the warranty?

if you broke part of the console off then yea i would assume so. maybe they wouldnt even notive though and just verify your problem and issue a replacement if you send to MS since E74 is now covered.

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

I kind of wanted to confirm the error but hate to void it and then not get it fixed. Anyone done this? If not, how do I know what power supply to get?

well they go from 203 watts -175 watts and then 150 watts.

if you have a jasper which uses 150 watts then all previous models will also work and the cable will fit properly without modification.

so the consoles are backwards compatible with the older power bricks but the the older consoles will not work with the newer bricks.
the reason for that the older units which require either 203watts or 175 cannot get enough power from the bricks that only supply 150. the newer units can work with a higher rated brick cause they can step down the power and only use what is needed, but cannot step up power from a 150 watt.

i would be afraid of damaging my 360 by using a lower rated brick with it.

14.1a on the back of the 360 (same sticker as serial number) = 175w
12.1a = 150w
16.1 = 203w

I think. I know 14.1 and 12.1 are right. Don't remember if they did make a 16.1amp 360

Thanks dude. Why is there so many different kinds? wouldn't 203 be good for all boxes? More power the better like a pc?

its cause one of the ways they improved the 360 was by making the chips smaller. the GPU and CPU have reduced in size each generation. this means they require less power and also produce less heat. this and other improvments have led to the jaspers which dont get rrod as much
