Can my bricked PSP be resurrected? And a MMS question

I have a fat PSP that has been bricked for some time. I got it for very cheap from a friend, yet I cannot unbrick it.

I have a Rain's MMS that will automatically turn a PSP into 5.00 M33, and it works, because I have tried it on another PSP.

However, my bricked PSP will only turn on, with the green light coming on for a few seconds and then turning off. There is no flashing by the memory stick icon so it isnt reading it.

Does anyone know id I can solve this problem without replacing the motherboard?

Also, with Rain's MMS, can i change any fat PSP's firmware directly to 5.00 M33 or does it have to be below a certain firmware?
