I plan on buying a Sony 5 Disc DVD player (and HTIB). Is there a way I can find out if Verbatim disc I've already burned will work on this before I buy it? My Verbatim discs won't work on a Panasonic I tried, but did work on my parents 2 Sony players (different models then I'm buying). I would just hate if my already burned discs didn't work.

oswald1- While no one can gaurantee 100% of anything ! I would expect that You should'nt have any problems with Verbatim & Sony And I realize that you are talking About Your Previously Burned Disc here So The only way/ways to be sure of Compatability would be First to Find a Dealer That will let you test The unit ( Demo ) to see if it work with the disc you've burned already ?Or barring that buy the unit if it doe'snt work with your Previously Burned Verbatims Return it !!!! . THe Best way to assure the most compatability between Backups/Burned Disc as opposed to Commercially Produced -DVD's , Movies, Software ,Ect which are stamped/pressed out like Vinyl Records or CD's are /werte? is To BookType Your DVD+R/DVD+R DL media to DVD-ROM This is the most compatable you can get in BUrned Media as opposed to Commercial DVD's ect... ! However To do this your DVD burner has to be capable of Booktyping and many are ! Also You need to use DVD+R or DVD+R DL media as those and DVD+RW are the only disc that can be booktyped !- Booktyping simply put is your Burner Playing a trick by fooling your DVD player DVD-Rom drive ect... into thinking it's playing a DVD-Rom=Commercial DVD , Video game ect... Most Modern DVD players will Play DVD-R or DVd+r dic with equal aplomb whether Booktyped or not and Ironically the lesser expensive ones seam to be [Less finicky about Media Compatability } go figure ? now if your DVD burner does'nt allow Booktyping Then DVD-R disc will probably be a little more compatable all things being equal? but individual players can vary sometimes ! My Opinion is you already are on your way to A good Start " Using Verbatim Media " Some of the best made so You should be OKay !!!!!- Hopefully I have'nt confused you too much aaaaand this helps you somewhat? Good luck let us know how it turns out and If I can be of any more assistance just ask CHEERS!!!
