Software seems the best place for this!

There are undoubtedly a lot of audio creation software out there; and it's a bit of a pain to shuffle past the big names to find the smaller, more cost effective or freeware programs. Looking for stuff along the lines of FL Studio (in regards to being able to piece things together; use the keyboard as input and make loops/sounds).. or, well, really any recommendations people can offer.

So, what'cha got? :)

Audacity is nice but takes forever to deal with MP3s.....
