Got the current 3.6 Swap Magic disks and while I can get my Pal games work on my old phat model PS2 with a flip top lid, the scaling is off and I'm only seeing most of the action. The games are Earth Defense Force and Monster Attack.

Both are CD-R games, so how the heck can I make back up's of these to fix the vertical screen's axis to the correct US TV size. I'm seeing about 80% of the screen as it's pulled down on my NTSC TV.

I've been told to use burnatonce, but that didn't work. What other options can I use, both for these CD-R games and potentially other DVD games.

You need to patch the image file before you burn it.

Check this guide hereI like using the adr patcher myself.

Or if you have component cables and an hdtv, then check this guide here.

Since I have an HDTV and component cables, i tried the method you used, but still nothing.

First off, using Swap M 3.6, and after the back up game now finally correctly patched, do I change the region on the Swap Magic boot-up screen and do a special or normal load to get the game to load? The patched CD-R game only just spins and spins, no graphics or sound. When doing the swap with the original game, I always change the Region to NTSC and use Special Boot.

I think I might be missing a step in doing this and it's driving me nuts.

1) I made an ISO of the game using Burnatonce.
2) Opened up adr patcher and through that window, selected Patch with pal to ntsc routine. Hit Begin Search, and viola I think I'm in business. Do I need to Load Patches here? the guide I referred to wasn't specific on that.

3) Continued and then again with ntsc to pal routine

4) This is where I got a bit confused, in a separate window I open patch with ps2_pal2ntsc_yfix, selected my ISO, changed the Y-Fix to 48 as suggested, then patched it up. Is this right?

5) Then did the 2 steps patching again with adr undo ntsc to pal routine and again with undo pal to ntsc routine(

6) burned at 4x speed using Nero Express Essentials.

7) loaded it up and nothing.

So maybe I messed something up when it came to the patching part?
Or the separate window Y-Fix?
Or with loading onto Swap Magic incorrectly?

Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated, I just want to play these 2 games without going bananas.

First off I would have used Nero or imgburn to make your copy of the game.

Then use imgburn or Nero to burn the image to CD.

I am not sure of that tutorial.

Seeing you have hdtv and component cables, just try burning the game and playing it.

Thats all I do.

That tutorial is great for the singstar games etc, so as not to get the audio out of sync etc.

If it doesn't work, then just use the ADR patcher to patch it, then burn it.

Then using Swap Magic, just select your Normal and your own region.

Thanks Smokey, I'm desperatly trying to get this right before I turn my entire spindle of CD-R's into coasters.

When I use ImgBurn, it's turning the game image into a cue.file, will that give me a problem when it comes to burning?

After that I will load in ADR patcher and use "Select .PS2 PAL -> NTSC PATCH ROUTINE (NO Y POS)" patch, do you use any other patches or just that one?

Thanks.

For CD's, using imgburn will give you a .cue file and an image file or .bin file.

That is what it does. So don't worry.

Then yes patch using the PAL -> NTSC PATCH ROUTINE (NO Y POS)

That is all you should need.

Remember PS2 CD's can be burned at 12-16x speed.

Every time I went to make an ISO using Image Burn it turned into a cuefile, which kept worrying me. Then proceeded to download UltraIso and that seemed to make an Iso file just fine.

Went to this site for help on patching it,

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/732415

Did the 2 patches with ADR patcher 1st, then the opened a separate box that did the PS2 Pal 2 NTSC With Y Fix per that forum's instructions.

Then finally did the other 2 patches with ADR patcher and then it went to the burn process.

Crossed my fingers, loaded up Swap Magic 3.6 on my phat model PS2 with the flip top and my ps2 says "Not a valid PS 2 disk" after I swapped out the swap magic boot disk. This makes about 7 coasters I've made trying to fix this. Is there anyone out there I can email this Iso file to see if they can correctly patch it? I'm wondering if I am just making this harder than it should too. It's absolutely driving me insane. Should I just NOT use all 4 of those ADR patches and only use one of them? Or just ignore that ADR and only use the
PS2 Pal 2 NTSC With Y Fix window patch?

You can patch a bin file, the .cue file is only used for burning.

I always follow this guide.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/121718

It explains which games are compatible with each patcher.

I don't know why after patching you would get a "not valid PS2 disc" though, if you said it worked before you patched it.

You are using the Swap Magic CD to boot the game, correct.

Just try the "pal to ntsc y fix" instead of adr patcher and see how that goes.
