I got UT2k4 yesterday and i tried to make a backupdisc.
My Problem is, that i know not one copyprogram that
is able to copy dvds with copyprotection.

is there a solution? (i dont want to use cracks
afterwards. it should work like the original)

Excuse the ignorant question, but how were you doing this with cds, the only working copies of securom etc i ever got working still needed the nocd crack, it would install but still ask for the disc (which i use anyway even on retail copies, who the hell wants to stuff around with discs anymore, solid state is where it's going to be at).

Just out of curiousity, how big is the disk, in GB? I'm pretty sure far cry is only 3.5gb on dvd, so it should be possible to do, alcohol 120% should be able to do it, or don't they support dvds yet?

Let us know how it goes.

http://www.burnworld.com/software/cdrburning/alcohol/120.htm

They seem to act like it will do copy protected dvds, just like it does with cds, give it a whirl.
Quote:
The 3 main functions I found of most importance of Alcohol 120% are:

1) 1:1 duplicates your CD/DVDs: Alcohol bypasses nearly all 'Unbreakable" copy protections and it has pre configured settings for each kind of copy protection: Playstation (1&2), SecuROM, ProtectCD, SafeDisc, VideoCD..

2) It supports the highest number of possible image file types including - MDS, CCD, BIN, CUE, ISO, CDI, BWT, BWI, BWS, BWA & many more...

3) It will mount CD images as virtual drives: You can use CDs directly from image files on your HD and it will have access times up to 200x times faster then from the CD Rom drive. It even emulates copy protections. You can also use this with your downloaded images without burning!

All in all this tools came in very useful. It deservs our BurnWorld ATOM award, and I recommend it to anyone that is looking for an emulation tool for burning app. Check it out!!

but i cant use the functions like "read sub-channel data" etc...
i can make an image, but i cant burn it, because
alcohol cant find my dvd-burner...

Sorry mate, once more thing, if you've ever used alcohol 120% or not you will want to get your hands on clony XXL and alcoholer 120%, these are companion s/ware, you run clonny xxl, throw the disc in, tells you what protection it is using, some require the disc to be already installed. Then run alcoholer 120% and it automatically loads up the settings from clony xxl, then just click on the button start alcohol 120%, these can be used with gamejack, blindwrite etc, it will open alcohol 120%, click on make image and the profile should already be alcohor, if not just select it, bottom left of screen, this loads up re settings required to back it up, and off it goes, makes the images very quickly for a cd.

Anyway please let me know how you go with this, i'm very interested to see if does do it for dvd games.

Cheers.

Cool, have been hearing good things of blind write recently, very handy to know next time i buy a game.

I don't think posting links to crack warez sites are a good idea though...

But thanks for the link anyway.

Links to warez is a great way to become "inactive". Might want to edit that post before a mod finds it.

I've been loving BW5, especially since it can take advantage of the Plextor Premium's varirate write method which really helps with the newer SecuRom games. It's well worth the money especially since if they go broke they can't keep making it better hint, hint, McDuff :)

Download BlindWrite5 Tweaker too. It's a must to gain much more control over the whole process.

A-Ray Scanner is an awesome scanner to use since Clony isn't being updated anymore.

Here's a link for A-Ray and Tweaker:

Hello guys!

So I buyed today the UT2004 multilangual DVD. But I didn't get a working copy of it. Tryed it with Alcohol 120%, Blind Write 5. Clony XXL say its Securom *NEW* protected. So i start alcoholer v.4.1 and set Data CD: SecuRom New right? After this I started Alcohole 120% wrote an image and I try now to burn the DVD. Should work, don't it?

Thx 4 your support.

Using Tweaker for SecuRom New try setting the read for something around 16X, set the burn for no more than 8X with 4X being preferable and be sure to extract topology.

I haven't personally backed up Securom 5.X yet but I've read it can be pretty difficult as of yet. One thing to keep in mind is that it's a good idea to get rid of any virtual drives on your system prior to testing your copy, the blacklisting goes on :)

I'm still relatively new to backing games up but these settings have worked for me.

SecuRom can be a bastard to dupe. The Plextor Premium has a special write method that works well for the newer SecuRoms but there's no DVD burner that does this.....yet.

I have tried Blindwrite 5 (the latest version) and that will allow me to make a image and to Burn the image to a DVD-RW (as I have lost 2 -R's already )

The burn looks and works fine and I get NO errors BUT when I try to look at the disc Win Explorer or My Computer my DVD drive is listed as a CD Drive and I get the attached error. Take the disc out and its listed as a DVD drive.

I have a Pioneer 107 with Firmware 1.05, with a Infiniti DVD-RW

YE HAR

Cheers for the idea eXecutoR. It worked, copied it. Auto boots with splash screen, Just need to test the install but I see no reason for that to fail. It will need a NO DVD patch to get it to run as I get this message when trying to play.

Hi chojin_uk!

The message I received on 5 dvd's... finally I made a working Image of the DVD which I can mount with Daemon Tools v.3.46. And I can play it without any c-r-4-c-k or no cd/dvd patch. I didn't tried to burn this image yet. But the image works fine as an emulation. Here is how I made the image:

Device: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4081B (FW:A101)
Blind Write v5.1.5.132
BW Tweaker v.1.5.5
Settings:
[]Include Autoplay Info (not active!)
Write Speed DVD: 1.5x (2078KB/s)
Writting Topology: Write using TwinPeak
Read Topology: Always extract.
Extraction Speed: 4x (600KB/s)
Daemon Tools: v3.46
Time to create the Image: 30:45

hi there

i have done securom although not recent! with BLINDWRITE

it worked but i used a BWA file from someone who had a good spike file!

but its been awhile so cant remember if i need emulation or not now? it was Grand theft auto! it had securom on both discs which is not the norm too!

but from the sound of it talk too

Nephilim

as he knows more of the new stuff with this! and it sounds like you need a tweaker? now not read about this? maybe its the BWA file thing?

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

It would be a good start and then tweak the settings from there if needed :)
