Hello all, I have been using afterdawn for years and never actually posted any questions so this a a cool moment for me. So anyway I've been looking everywhere for a tutorial on upgrading hacked firmware for the lite-on using iprep but can't find anything. I tried using the jungleflasher tuts but since I have vista 64 i cannot install the port drivers. All the iprep tuts I've read say create boot drive/read firmware/write it. I still have my original firmware backed up just in case, but i don't know where i would use it in iprep. I guess im worried since when iprep reads my firmware it will be reading the hacked firmware on the drive not the original. does this make a difference? or should I just write to the banks with ixtreme 1.6 loaded?

Well you don't have to have iPrep read the original firmware if it has 1.51 on it already. You would just overwrite 1.51 with 1.6. I haven't used iPrep in ages, and I don't think it will be around much longer since JungleFlasher is doing everything. Have you tried to manually install the drivers for JungleFlasher? I'm on 32bit Vista, and I had to do it manually, so I don't know if you've tried that?

Thanks for the reply. I tried installing manually but I get an error msg saying that the drivers are not usable on a 64 bit OS. Its good to know that at least for now I am safe with iprep though. Also, I was wondering if this means that I can skip the reading step in iprep completely and just erase then write, or do i need iprep to read the lite-on's hacked firmware first? Anymore info would be greatly appreciated.

Well it's good to read the firmware just to make sure everything is there correctly. I don't think you have to read it, but I'm not 100% sure. Hopefully someone else can give some advice!

thanks for the help. I just realized I could insert my dvd key using jungle flasher on my 32 bit xp laptop. I just can't write to the drive. So I loaded my dummy.bin from my original firmware backup then loaded the ixtreme 1.6 and wrote the key into the firmware. Now I just need to know if I should replace the iprep created litcwf.bin file with my jungle flashed lit_cwf.bin file. after inserting my drive key I tried to load my lit_cwf.bin firmware in iprep but it gave me the no firmware detected msg. but if i just try to load the regular ixtreme 1.6 it will load. so i'm wondering if its ok to just replace the litcwf.bin that iprep was going to insert my key into with the jungle flashed one then boot into iprep and erase/write?
