if you have warranty coverage i would try MS first cause E74 is covered now like RROD

it is still in warranty but the guy i bought it from on ebay has for some reason tried to open the casing with what looks like a very large screwdriver.quite annoying really as i only got it 8 weeks ago.ive got a few spare consoles but i want to get this fixed so i can sell one of my non faulty ones to a friend.

if the case plastic is damaged only maybe you can swap it with one of your other consoles to make it look unopened. might have to transfer your serial sticker depending if both halfs of the shell are damaged. if you are carefull and use a blow dryer/heatgun on low heat not to close to the sticker you can peel it off witha razor blade and swap to the other case.
If you have ever sent a laptop in for repair and they replaced the casing on the bottom of the laptop then this is how they transfer MS windows stickers from unit to unit. I worked for a repair center and had to do this often. just be carefull cause with too much heat the shell itself will start to melt.

sounds like a plan.only downside is that ive had to replace the original benq drive and spoof a samsung in.is the reflow the best option in my case or the xecuter kit.thanks for your help and input.

if the reflow is done correctly it should be a longer lasting solution than the rrod fix kit.

if you have the old drive for the 360 you could just slap it in there and send it. if you have e74 they wont be able to test the drive anway. worst case is they return it to you and then you fix yourself or get a reflow.

i threw the old drive away as it was in quite a state.the guy on ebay said look after the console as it was my baby.id hate to see the state of his kids.ive just bought some heatpads for £7 so ill try them without taking off the xclamps and if i get no joy ill send it off for the reflow.cheers
