Should I update 3.2u to 4.0? (Wii with Wiikey)

I see several people saying that you don't need to update to the newest firmware in order to play newer games but my console is prompting me to update when I insert original game discs.

I have an original WiiKey with 1.9s firmware and my wii system is at 3.2U. Is there any harm in updating to the newest wii system menu? or should I try installing all these CIOS things through WAD manager?

It's all a bit confusing to me and I've been trying to read everything I can find about whether or not I need to update but I'm still unsure.

If I do update to 4.0, should I install HBC before I upgrade? Just so I have it on there in case I need it later on. I read that 3.2 is the easiest time to install it cause I can just run the DVD installer disc.

I have a friend who has the same problem. I followed this guide myself as I was already on 4.00 (without wiikey)
