1.6 fw flashing question

I just flashed my xbox with the 1.6 fw. However, the xbox has not been updated in a very long time and still has the old dashboard. Is it alright to update without having to worry about any repercussions, like getting banned from xbox live.

there is always the chance of getting banned from xbox live.that is the chance you take when you mod your console.the answer to the update question is no.you are perfectly fine to go ahead and update to the new dashboard because as soon as you sign into live it will update the console.you'll be fine.
