i know this is kind of a big thing to ask for. nothing illegal about it though. i made a working memcard to parallel port adapter and i can access it with Memory Card Captor Sakura (weird program)
the problem is of course, it doesn't recognize gamesaves made with the PS2 Save Builder, and i don't have an action replay or other disc to use to copy the exploit game save from a USB stick to my memory card using my actual PS2.
if anybody else with a parallel port adapter could make a full 8 MB exploit memcard image for me that i could write to one of my cards with MCCS, please message me. for your trouble, you will have my deepest gratitude and possibly sexual favors.
if you can do this, i'd need SLUS_011.49 to be in the TITLE.DB file. thank you! :o
of course, if anybody knows of a program out there that lets me put PS2 SB gavesaves directly from the PC via the parallel adapter.. that would be awesome. i've been looking for hours to find something that would. no luck.
EDIT: i can just send you a gamesave file from PS2 Save Builder, making this much less work on your part. :)
thanks. if somebody saved a raw image of a PS2 memcard with an exploit with MCCS, you can write that raw image back to another PS2 memcard i believe though. correct me if i'm wrong.
the copying software wouldn't examine the contents, it would be the same concept as a raw floppy image.
is there any software out there that can handle PS2 savegame formats but work like MCCS over the parallel port? the actual pinouts on the PS1/PS2 cards are the same i believe.
if not, please link me any info you have on the PS2 memory card storage format and i'll write my own utility given the required info. i would gladly distribute it publically for others too.
Well I can give you a link on the the structure of the PS2 memory card filesystem
PS2 File System That link also describes a program called "mymc" which is used with the PS2 emulator on a PC.
The most used program these days to copy PS2 gamesaves or even PS1 gamesaves is the program called "uLe or known as uLaunch.elf.
It can copy in the .psu format.
But first you need to already have a way to run uLaunch.elf, and it makes use of a USB pendrive.
So this is why most tutorials you see, for installing the exploit, require a cheatdisk of some sort to be able to copy the exploit save to the PS2 memory card.
There are PS2 USB memory card adaptors that were sold years ago, and a program called "linker"
But really if you can find one of these adaptors, the price you would pay for one is more than a cheat disk or Swap Magic.
Well hope some of this helps you. Don't know if it will or not.
thanks for the link i'll review it. since i have a 100% stock PS2 i can't do the pendrive .elf stuff, but i found code for an experimental true USB plugin for pcsx2. i have an action replay ISO, and it works fine in the emulator. if the plugin works well enough i oughta be able to use a real USB pendrive and do all this with a memcard image file from the emulator. i hope.
i'll see what happens. hmm if all else fails i'll just go spend $20 on gameshark or something. will the current version of it sold at gamestop or eb games work for running the exploit, or have the fixed it?
If i am not mistaken it has to be a "Gameshark V2" to do the exploit.
Another way to install a different exploit called fmcb 1.8 is too use an Original PS2 game like " 007 Agent Under Fire" or "Splinter Cell" games. Or even an older demo disc should work.
thanks for the info on that exploit. i tried it with madden 08. i replaced the NTGUI.ELF file for the network setup screen with launchelf but the PS2 kills the game when i try to get to it and shows the evil red insert a PS2 disc screen still.
maybe it just won't work with that game. btw i can't use the slide tool i broke the pin years ago (oops) and later the gears for the drive broke lol. i can only use it by leaving the top off and putting the game on the motor before turning it on. it's basically a ghetto flip-top.
that thing is ruined haha. it works though. i also have a slimline, but there aren't many ways to play backups other than swap magic on it.. or a modchip.
i was able to get an 8-wire modchip on my old PSX successfully recently, but i think it would be harder on a PS2 motherboard right? circuitry much closer together. i'm not that great with a soldering iron.
