Hi guys. Ive trolled here for ages and rarely need to ask for help, but here goes.
Im trying to back up a dance recital DVD that was produced by Mr. Video.
I'm using AnyDvD 6.5.4.9, the newest, with DVD Shrink and get an error that DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to read file "O:\"
Then I figured Id try DVDFab 6 with FixVTS, and what I got was the menus showing for 50% of the movie scanning, and only half the movie.
I then tried to use ImgBurn to create an image file to disk.
What I saw amazed me as it showed the capacity of the DVD as 25 GBs.

Something isnt working right, apparently, and Im sure it has to do with the 99 files that Clone DVD were displaying, all with a 1 hour, 8 minute play time. The fiel structure is apparently screwed up, but Im at a loss for fixing it.

Its seems to me that this is some sort of weird protection that this production company put on, but for the life of me, I cant figure it out.

Any suggestions what you would need, log-wise or other, to help me thru this problem.

On a side note, the obvious problems, Nero version, DVD burner, media type, are all just fine as I can still back up all my new commercial discs with no problem.

Also, this is from their website

Mr. Video puts a signal on the DVDs to prevent illegal copies. Mr. Video protects its DVDs with a proprietory anti-copying signal burned right onto the DVDs
Here is the AnyDvD info, if that helps.

Have to agree with iluvendo

According to the folks at the Slysoft forums, anytime the log shows "structural protection" if you're not using "CloneDVD", you need to use the built-in AnyDVD ripper and then use the "files" from your HDD..

and AnyDVD's already been updated a few more times since your version, so you might want to go with the newest:

AnyDVD (HD) 6.5.5.3 beta
Safe for everyone to try:

6.5.5.3 2009 05 19
- New (Blu-ray): Added support for new BD+ protections
- Fix: AnyDVD did not work correctly, if the drive letters A, B or C
were assigned to optical drives
- Some minor fixes and improvements

Just "right-click" on the fox icon in the tray and pick "Rip Video DVD to Harddisk..."

The file structure seems to have been scrambled on purpose by this production company to stop people from making backups.
When using AnyDVDs ripper, I get this error at 99%...

VobSet 8 74 0 974862 975028 97453
and it is on TitleSet 74 when it does this.

Any suggestions?

Try using the old DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD running in the background then open the ripped file in Clone DVD and find the correct VTS to record. This is the same type of protection used on the movie Doubt where you had numerous bogus files and you had to uncheck them and record the correct VTS. Even in Clone it may just come up with one checked but it may not be the right one. If you don't know which one it is it will be a long process. You can also try VobBlanker to open the file and get rid of bogus ones.
