I am using ImTOO DVD Ripper to convert my decoded dvds using DVD Shrink 3.2 I am converting my dvd collection to HD. I am having a problem getting the audio to sync correctly/constantly or the directors comments is the only thing that plays.
This program converts to Divx, Avi, Xidiv, vob, mov....I am using the WD TV box.....
Does anyone have an suggestions or experience with this problem?

Yeah, unless you need the space on the HD leave them as MPEG2 files. The media player should upconvert the files just fine.

That's why it's hard to help sometimes. HD these days would be High Definition. You wouldn't convert to a Hard Drive, you would transfer to it. A proper term for a Hard Disk Drive = HDD.
You made it sound like you were trying to convert your movies to high definition, rather than simply ripping to your HDD.

You know I came to this forum to help on something new I was trying to do/learn.......
I find it interesting that the support for the software I was using was NO help at all even with very specific information and here the only real assistance I got was a correction in my abbrevations.
And lo & behold.....I figured out myself
So much for tech geeks being sharing information........

Unfortunately your "very specific information" was clear as mud. By your grammar and punctuation, I assume English must not your native language, if so I apologize.

If the information was as specific as the info that you have provided at the beginning of this thread, no wonder that any "tech geek" wasn't able to help you...

...I'd say correction that was well placed; hopefully you got off your high horse at some point and learned something, if not how to present you problem eloquently, then maybe how to be courteous to people that try to help you in their free time. The "geeks" will gladly share information with you, if they can figure out what the hell you're asking for. Last I checked, "tech geek" wasn't a synonym for clairvoyant or mind reader.
Hopefully you've converted your videos to H.264. Divx will do it too.
Piss me off, and I Will ignore You!

Ok I am trying the same thing as movifreak but I can't firgure it out.
I have a Western digital MY TV box, which is connected to a hard drive which my dvd's should be on, but I have a problem. As it stands before all I have done it rip the dvd files to VOB files on the pc but I want them all in a single AVI file to put on my external Hard Drive. I have tried allot to get it to work, most options I cant seem to get to work I tried most of what people have said to try, div x and many many others.
What is the definite method??????
Also how do you join vobs with dvd shrink? I don't suppose it retains dvd menu functionality??
To me this should have been a simple thing to do but nothing seems to work and it must be simple enough with all the DIVX avi dvd ripps that are about on the internet I want to legitimalty do it to work with the thing I bought!
By the way please don't reply saying to use the WDTV software on the cd cus when it came it was cracked

Forget about the menus. Using Shrink in Preferences untick 'Split VOB files...' to create one large VOB in reauthor mode.
For converting your ripped DVDs this is a great app with many choices/options (a bit confusing at first). Start with a 'movie only' rip. Load the first VOB, it will add the rest. Depending on what your WD plays either an x264 MKV (with AC3 audio) or a x264 MP4 (with AAC) should produce nice quality.

It's rare to find any Divx. The bulk of the files out there are Xvid with more and more MKV and MP4s appearing.

Sorry I confused myself, yea all the vids are in XVID sorry. Thanks for the help, I will try that now. I can manage without the menus but other people may have wanted menus on the dvds, we don't even use extras on the dvds anyways.
Just one thing, that link doesn't seem to work
Error reported as: [6]: Unable to form a valid connection to mySQL. Please check that your e107_config.php contains the correct information.
I will figure it out in dvd shrink anyways.
What is the aplication name you where refering to, to convert the Vobs?

The DVD Shrink doesn't seem to put it in 1 vob for me even with the split vob turned Off, I used reauthoring anyways so I could get just the main movie ripped, then VOBMERGE to merge my files together and then im trying AutoGX, to then convert my single VOB to a single avi. I will see how it turns out. I will later try the DVD FAB and see can I get a single vob from it, and then maybee try it for a avi, (I have platinum). Is there anything better than AutoGX as it is slightly slow.

Thanks for the help. Here is what I do at the moment.
1. I use a dvd ripping software, I use DVD FAB Platinium because it has a merge feature, It doesn't merge the vobs exactly but names them vts_01_001 vts_01_002 ect.. you can use dvd shrink with the dvd shrink with the split Vob unticked, you may be able to do it with it ticked..
If you are using dvd shrink you must reanme the vob files in this manner for step two
2. Use AutoGK (I named it incorrectly previously, if there is no link with the AutoGK when i type you can get it here http://www.autogk.me.uk/
Once downloaded select an ifo whichever works, usually the second or the first vob is all you need. Select an output for avi. Most other settings should be fine. the only other thing I would say is to in output size either select a 2GB size or what I do is click the Target quality in percent does the job, its also quicker!
Click start.. come back in an 1hour and maybee 10 mins and your done.
