I'm trying to import some VHS tapes onto my computer. The set-up goes like this:

VCR RCA out ---> ROXIO USB adapter ---> COMPUTER

I've tried importing the tapes with Roxio Media Import and Windows Movie Maker, but both require me to import a very low quality version of the footage. In the past I have imported video from a miniDV camcorder via FireWire, and have captured it at full res., no problem. Can somebody please help me? I don't know if it's the device, my computer, or what.

http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/creator/device/overview.html

According to info on that page it captures at full resolution.

PC too slow ? Disk Drive nearly full, heavily fragmented?

What happens when you try capturing at full resolution?
Do you get dropped frames or doesn't it work at all ?

Have you looked around to see if there is any other software you can use
to do the capture?

No, I already tried two.

I read online that you get better quality from ur vhs if u import at a lower res.

Where did you read that?
In general, if you want to make a DVD out of it, full res is better.
If it's for watching on the computer, or uploading to Youtube or
similar, single field capture (320*240 or 352*240) is OK.

Have you been in touch with Roxio about problems with their product ?

to assist you.
