Ok,
I realized that my nforce 680i wouldn't work, so I tried another pc with nforce 4(which i read works to flash samsung drive). Jungle flasher won't see the drive, neither will iprep. I used another (forgot what it is, had 3 or 4 steps, 1st step said to "load firmware"), gave me an error message said no firmware loaded. Have .net framework 3. I have tried countless times. Have d/l ixtreme 1.5 and 1.6, neither works. I really don't wanna screw up this kid's xbox 360, so, can anyone guide me to a step by step tutorial. I (believe it or not, and i'm puter savvy) spent about 6 hrs yesterday [to the dismay of my wife] trying to get this to work. And, the PC doesn't recognize the drive either. Also, what is the diff between extreme 5.3 and ixtreme 1.6. Geez, I can't even open the firmware...

Nforce works sometimes. Just buy the 6421 card and save yourself the headaches. They are only $15.00 and more than pay for itself with one backup.

Nah,
not really racist, my dad was a jew, but i was raised on my mom's (sicilian) side.....so, i tell people i'm jewish from the neck up, the rest is italian....lol

By the way, just out of curiousity, anyone recommend a tutorial that works, there are dozens of em, and all seem to be different

Just follow the Jungle Flasher guide and delete teh viamraid.sys from c:\windows\system32 before starting.

Ok, I'm just about to give up....never have I encountered resistance like this God awful box. I have tried xp (nforce 4) and Vista (680i), I know, get the Via...however, i have read a ton that nforcce works. Iprep doesn't recognize the drive. I have tried every SATA port i have, in both puters. I have rebooted countless times, and played with bios till the keys are hot. I get no drive detected, and "no firmware loaded". I am at a loss, and this is killin me to say that. And......i can't load portio32 in either machine, cmd box comes up and says to load manually. I d/l the zip file with it in it, but it's only for NT systems.

The via card surely works, Nforce might work, there are other factors to consider, for example your mainboard and so on. Simply get the Via card off ebay, they are like 2 US$ + shipment from Hong Kong and they work.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

xp is Gigabyte Ga k8nxp-sli nvidia drivers
vista is evga 680i, both have sata drivers installed, i believe, now i'm thinkin, of course the drivers are installed otherwise the HD wouldnt' work

vista 32 or 64? Are there any hardware conflicts in the device manager? Have you installed PORTIO32 correctly?

can't install portio 32, won't let me..says have to do it manually, and when i get the .rar folder, only windows drivers are for NT....you know I wonder if all the probs i am having have to do with nforce, and the drive not being detected, i tried detecting with it off, on, pc on first xbox on second, xbox on first etc. etc...very frustrating

Why every time does either extreme bootmaker, or iprep constantly say "no firmware loaded"...i finally got extreme bootmaker to load something, loaded ixtreme 1.6, said.."selected unknown firmware, would you like to d/l firmware def update", if i say no, it loads an md5 file

i finally got extremem bootmaker to work, and when i hit "prepare drive" nothing happens, just says..extreme boot is ready for use, but nothing is on the flash drive

As much as I recommend forums such as this one to provide help, it's always hard to determine the solution without being hands-on ... because everybody's PC system is different.
So what Person A is telling you may contradict what Person B is saying. Unfortunately, getting it done yourself is going to take some trail and error on your part.
If you would like to avoid the headaches like so many others do ... just send it off to someone who has the experience to get the job done right. This way you'll definitely avoid rendering your drive useless and save yourself a ton of frustration. You know what I mean? :-)

Thats your problem. PortIO32 must be installed for JF to work.
Open you device manage>Right Click>Add Legacy Device
-point to your folder with your PortIO32 files.

Thats your problem. PortIO32 must be installed for JF to work.
Open you device manage>Right Click>Add Legacy Device
-point to your folder with your PortIO32 files.

I presume by update definitions, you mean upgrading the program?...I tried iprep 101, iprep 6, iprep 008....thanks for everyone's patience, i worked hours yesterday on 2 computers swithing this xbox around, for the life of me, i can't get anything to work. iprep and jungle flasher just say no firmware loaded....got extreme bootmaker to load samsung 16.bin...but when i hit "start" to prepare the usb drive, nothing happens....it just sits there

opened jungle flasher 1.6, and 1.5 and got this
strangest thing i ever say...the window to the program doesn't open all the way....on an xp machine it's fine...this is a vista machine...i get the same thing with nvidia monitor, the right side is not there

jungleflasher... iprep .. crap..
mtkflash and sam360hack from real dos .. I flashed a drive with 14 different keys in 30 minutes last month because the idiot owner didn't know which mobo the drive went with. Hadn't done it in over a year.. so simple once I ran it through in my head

I reduced my DPI setting for the screen to "normal". The screen display settings were set larger so I could get larger fonts. If you reset this to normal, and reboot, JungleFlasher displays fine.
