So I just built a new PC, and chose the Asus P5QL-EM as the motherboard. Bought PCI serial ports and everything. Installed all necessary tools (net framework, portIO32, etc). I have modded an xbox on my PC which is the P5N72-T Premium Asus board without any issue.
When I start Jungleflasher on the new PC (running XP 32bit) it says no via ports detected. I knew this was bad but it also gave me some more weird errors. Needless to say the drives do not show up, neither in JF or CK3. Do I need to buy a VIA controller card on top of the new PC now?
Also how do I go about using the serial port? Does the CK3 Pro have to have the Blue light on?
And if so, would I just connect the 360 DVD drive's SATA from that controller card to the drive and then use it through JF? Any help is appreciated, thank you!
Yeah, you basically got it. Of course need to power the xbox either with the ck3 or the xbox itself.
If I were building a computer just to flash 360's I would buy the 2.5" expansion for the front of the computer. Allows you to plug the sata in without taking the computer apart, lol. I'd also try to figure a pretty mount for the ck3(and i would get one if I did them that often).
Reason i'd buy the ck3, just so I wouldn't have to have the xbox in my lap while flashing it. Just take the drive out and go, :-). I am definitely OCD with stuff, so I have to have it clean looking and not cluttered like many peoples computers that they use for flashing. I saw one guy that had all types of cables and stuff all around his computer, wires going everywhere, that he used to flash drives. It would drive me crazy.
But again, to answer your question, it looks like that one will work. I saw a couple people used it to flash xbox's but I'd make sure it was the 6421 chipset before buying.
Thanks, I have a CK3 and the Probe and the case one 2.5 inch bay for floppy I may just keep open for use. But thanks, I ordered the $11 chip from DealExtreme, when it actually arrives in a month I hope it works.

Haha, nah, I think boats go faster than that now. I'm waiting for that usb extractor I bought a couple days ago, hopefully it will be here tomorrow. I'd understand if it takes 4-5 days though, Canada to NC.
If the shipment takes a week I would have ordered one off ebay from Hong Kong. They are only half the price (shipment included) and it takes them a month too.
