Sorry if I'm asking something that is obvious but there seems to be alot more knowledgable ppl on this forum and searching google isn't giving my the correct answers. Basically I haven't used my wii for months and its got version 3.3E on it at the minute. most of my backups work apart from smash bros but that isnt a problem.

I have tried mad world there and it wants me to update. Iv got the d pro 9 i think with 1.7firmware. what would you recommend me doing, just leaving it as is and playing my old games or will updating it goose it for good?

Did an update stop your from being able to play Smash Bros?

If I remember correctly if you update with MadWorld on 3.3 you will still be on 3.3 after the update.

Im not sure, my brother has been lending it for months and just before i gave him it it stopped working and it was about the same time it stopped working so just put it to that, i think it came up with a msg about telling me to refer to the operations manual... So would updating my wii from 3.3 stop me from using my backups or is that just for soft modded wiis? cheers mate

I would say that it shouldn't stop you from reading backups but it's strange that Brawl doesn't work anymore. You should probably look into it some more. Although if I were to guess, I would guess that it not working is more to do with the drive than anything else.
