I'm trying to back up my originals but when I use raw dump it starts to dump OK then says finished OK, when I try to extract the ISO it tells me that there are no archives found and that the archive is unknown format or damaged. The RAR file size is 4.37 GB. Yes I have the LG GDR 8164B burner. I have burned 4 in the past successfully. Any help appreciated

Rawdump will dump the disc to ISO, why are you trying to extract it? Just open Nero/Imgburn/etc and burn the iso to disc...

I thought I had to extract the RAR file to make the iso image then burn to disc. As it is, the file is a compressed RAR file.Thanks for any info. If I take time to answer it's because I'm an invalid and can't spend a long time at the desk.

Chances are your WinRar is associating itself with ISO's. If you open your burning software and point it to that file it should only recognize it if it's a valid ISO. By default RawDump won't dump to anything WinRar related.

I tried unticking the ISO box for associating WINRAR but when I close and open it , it stays ticked. WHen I start rawdump it immediately saves it as a winrar file. I might have to uninstall winrar then reinstall it later. ANy other suggestions?

First off, Rawdump will not "immediately save it as a winrar file." A Wii ISO will be several files if it's a true winrar archive, not just 1 single file.

Second, did you try what I asked? "open your burning software and point it to that file it should only recognize it if it's a valid ISO." Even if winrar is associated with ISO's your burning software should still recognize it as an ISO and burn it... mine does.

try just renaming the file to dump.iso
