I'm trying to unbrick it with Pandora battery. But in order to do so, I need to go into recovery mode so I can enable the USB. But it won't go into recovery mode. I hold down R and the power switch, I tried holding down L too, but it would switch off after a while.

Now what do I do? Can't take it back to Sony because they don't fix bricked PSPs. Am I screwed or what? Can someone help?

Yup, I still have a fat PSP

You can buy a multicard reader that connects by USB and make it from there.

Here is an example: PPA 2438 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Multi Card Reader

Thanks for the help guys...

For the above post, I think I'm doing it correctly. I tried like 10 different ways and they all wouldn't work. The first thing I did is exactly what you did...hold down the R switch and just switch on the power without holding the power button. All it did was turn it's green light on.

As for the multi card reader, what exactly does this do? Dhow does it read the data of a bricked psp? Is it worth buying? If I buy it, and connect my (bricked) psp successfully, do I just create the pandora battery and jigstick from there?

Instead of using the PSP in USB mode it makes the card function as a flash drive which lets you access it even if the PSP doesn't work.

I have a PSP-1001. My son was updating the firmware for a game and turned it off- it has never worked since. I purchased a pandora's battery and 2 G Duo stick from the Internet. I've followed the tutorial but there is still no life in the PSP. The tutorial says to use the PSP to open the pandora's battery firm. installer- but as its bricked I can't!

Can anybody help!

So is this multicard reader GUARANTEED to bring my psp back to life? Like is there a way that if I buy it, it will somehow not detect my PSP? I don't want to waste my money. I already spent $20 on a new USB cord because I thought that was the problem.

Haha no I'm just asking because I don't want to be running around like a dog trying to catch it's own tail.

I want to fix the problem NOW, and I'm making sure that what I am buying is going to work properly. I just read some reviews, and it sounds pretty reliable. I'll try buying it soon, and I'll get back to this thread so someone can guide me through making the Pandora battery and "Jigstick."

Yes it will work provided you have the jig kick battery. Be sure to make a NAND backup while your in Pandora mode though just to be safe.

You can buy the jig kick battery premade HERE.
