I just bought a used PSP slim, I restored it to factory settings and the firmware is 3.95. Now I understand that certain motherboards cannot be modded, and I read the sticky and the link inside. From what it says it seems like I probably have the TA088 v2 motherboard. It talks about a hardmod and a Pandora battery and magic memory stick.

My friend who hacks his PSP has a Pandora battery and Magic memory stick. According to the link in the sticky, checking the motherboard and hackability involves doing a test with a program, but he says you can just pop in the Pandora battery and you'll be able to tell.

So anyways, how should I go about checking if my PSP is hackable, and then what should I do? This is all quite confusing to me...

Thanks.

Is it a 2000, or a 3000?

If a 2000 then YES
If a 3000 then YES

the 2000 can run ISO/CSO/PSX Games
the 3000 can only run HOMEBREW

I haven't tested this but apparently you can use the M33 Enabler for ChickHEN

checkHere for the instructions...

Late 2000 can not be hacked (in the way you mean)

Yours is fine, put on the custom firmware

You're OK to put on CFW, but you won't be able to make a Pandora Battery on your PSP. But yeah, just use 5.03 ChickHEN R2 (upgrade to OFW 5.03 before use) to run a CFW installer of your choice.
