Hi,

I've read different tutorials on writing your own homebrew but it uses Programmers Notepad.
I've been trying this method but I cant seem to get it to work as it fails on the "make" section. I've gone in with Msys to try and run make on its own, and it says something about not having permission...

My real question was going to be has anyone tried using Visual Studio to write the software? I know that a template has been release called WiiWizard (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiWizard) and was seeing if anyone had any experience on using it.

Thanks,
Steaky

Is it seriously just me who's having issues compiling homebrew?

What exactly are you trying to build?
Do you realize that MS Visual Studio is used for the i386 Windows machine? For the Wii, you will need a cross-development toolset. Most people probably use devKitPro.
Programmers' Notepad is just an editor.

If you are using devKitPro, what's the error msg you're getting?

I tried using Programmers Notepad and I kept getting
Make: execvp /sh/bin Permission denied
Make: vfork Permission denied

Same with VS2008 (with template) and everything was installed using the Windows installer on DevitPro.

I downgraded to 1.4.10 and it compiled without a problem, so I dont know if the issue is with 1.5.

Try installing devKitPro v1.5 as an administrator.

I'm also on XP and have been using 1.5 for a while without problems. But if 1.4 works, then just use that for now until you're forced to use 1.5 for some reason. You know it's some sort of permission issue with some files. BTW, the error message that you saw was probably "/bin/sh", not "/sh/bin". The shells bash, sh, (assuming you installed in the default location) are installed in c:\devkitPro\msys\bin. Start debugging there when you decide to switch.
