MS28 drive refusing to Intro properly

I have an MS28 drive that has ixtreme 1.41 on it.

I need to flash to 1.6 but am having weird problems.

I have it connected to my connectivity pro kit used for lite-on drives.

Jungleflasher sees the drive just fine. Warning message tells me to unlock via 0800 activate.iso disc.

So, i stick it in, it takes 74 seconds before it stops making noise. I then hit the EJECT button on the ProKit and leave the drive open.

I hit Vendor Intro and it always stays at status 0x51. No matter how many times i turn it off and back on.. it never changes status.

If i send a sammy unlock after the activate disc... pc crashes right after i get a 0xD1 status so apparently i'm not suppose to do that.

I have also tried with the drive half way open and still doesnt work.

What type of S-ATA chipset are you using? If you are having crashing problems, you might try making a bootable flash drive and use DosFlash1.7. Or you could try DosFlash32 v1.7 through Windows.

i have flashed many ms28 sammys with 1.4 to 1.6 and i have never used the activate disc i just hit unlock and press intro turn the ck3 on and off within 1 sec and proceeded to dump and flash normally

i have tried that too..

It clears all 3 stages and as soon as it says done, it says invalid status and gets stuck with a 0x51 status from then on.

I'll do some mroe tinkerin and see what happens.

Try sending the Intro to the Samsung, and when prompted, power cycle the drive within 1 second. The Samsung unlock is mainly used for stock firmware.

i found out what the problem was, it wasnt what was previously posted.

I had to put the .sys file back in the windows system directory that is said to be removed for VIA VT6321 cards...

It says to remove the sys file which is true because it would freeze my pc when flashing benq drives but i needed it to flash the samsung or it would lock the pc up when the file was absent.

I have the driver issue when I go to copy games. I need the driver in the folder to copy games but I need it out when I go to flash drives. I made up 2 nice batch commands that remove and restore the file for me, and also reboot my computer for me. :)

if u wanted to be real convenient, you could run VMWare with the driver absent and your normal OS with it there. If it doesnt work on one, load it on the other OS so u dont have to restart the pc.
