I've used DVDShrink for years to capture short film clips from a DVD for projection in church during sermons. Suddenly on a new computer the clips are pixelating and very degraded-- I don't know which program is the culprit.

Are there any other programs out there that any is using -- the nice thing about DVD shrink is that it lets you specify the exact parameters you want to copy, as opposed to having to capture an entire film, and then splice in another program.

I'm looking for the simplest route with the best possible quality of film clips.

NERO Recode 2 or 3 does this as well. I have used it to combine 2 sided DVD movies like "The Color Purple" on to one 4.7GB blank DVD media disc (compressed). You can complete the process you refer to all in one program, NERO. I have purchased the entire NERO 8 SUITE. Many DVD optical drives sold in retail include a trimmed down version of NERO. Google this and other you may be able to find some available NERO freeware.:)

i downloaded a copy of Nero 9 (the current one) and clicked on Nero recode, and stuck a star wars dvd from several years ago into the DVD drive. I hit "import' and it said "Nero Recode has hit a problem it cannot resolve. This video is copy-protected!" Maybe you can't bypass copy protection in the current version?

Again, what I'm trying to do is legal, even according to the movie industry, but you have to get past copy protection to do it.

No, NERO does not decrypt DVD's or file content. DVD SHRINK does. You'll need to decrypt the disc in SHRINK 1st then back the decrypted file up in NERO. NERO gives you several options including the option to edit the file and extract only the content you wish to see. GOOGLE RIPIT4ME this is decrypting freeware that is no longer supported it is a combination of DVD decrypter and FixVTS. This software will also decrypt disc.
