I'm one of those sad fed-up WII waggle fellas who has modded that sweet little system but still can't seem to find anything to do with it. I think it's time to make the switch to a 360.

I'm trying to compile all the starter info. Simple stuff like
What version has the latest hardware/best cash value.
What to look for when buying a 360 for optimum modding.

Also looking for the latest tutorials. Is the 360mods.net 2008 tutorial the latest and greatest?

Appreciate any advice/links to info that you could supply.

If you are going to be purchasing a new 360 console, it will come with a Lite-ON drive. They can be flashed with iXtreme firwmare to play your back-ups. You will need additional hardware to get the job done. Example: CK3 Lite/PRO with Probe (key reader) or the Xtractor PRO with Spear (key reader). You will also need a compatible S-ATA chipset whether it be onboard S-ATA or a PCI card.

Thanks for the starter info mate. I have a ASUS P5B deluxe that is a JMicron controller I think. Is there a good compatibility list I can reference somewhere?

Only way is to try it out. But if I remember right, I don't think Jmicron will work. But try it out anyway.
