hello mr. or mrs.
Does hard drive speed and cache makes a difference on how fast a dvd is ripped? I am currently using a 5400 rpm with I think a 2MB cache and planning to get a 7200 or 10,000 rpm 8MB cache hard drive if there is any difference in the ripping performance. Thank you.

I would think a faster hard drive sure wouldn't hurt, but the biggest difference in how fast a DVD will rip will depend on the DMA settings for your DVD drive.

Go into Device Manager and select IDE Controllers, then the channel your DVD drive is on. Select Properties and then advanced settings. I have mine set to DMA if available rather than PIO only.
