I just bought myself a playstation 2 slim (latest model). I did some research and so far I know that only 2 modchips work for this version (modbo and matrix infinity). I've got a few questions for those of you who might have both:

1) Does anyone know the difference in the two modchips? If there is, which is better or more widely recommended?
2) I've tried checking e-bay but I can't seem to find a good place to buy a modchip online (USA, New York), for cheap preferably; can someone post or (if against rules) PM me a suggestion?
3) What kind of USB pen drive should I avoid getting? I'm thinking about getting a cheap 16 gig pen drive for around $30 and just replace it's data with backups from my PC harddrive, to keep the system cooler and longevity, and avoid getting a whole new HDD.

If anyone can answer any of the questions it would be highly appreciated!

The difference of the modbo and the matrix is that a "modbo" chip is a clone of the matrix.
It uses the Matrix firmware.

There is nothing wrong with them.

You can get a modbo chip at gocybershop.ca, and if you type in modbo 4.0 in google, more sites come up.

I can't tell you for sure what USB drives you should avoid.

Depends what you want too use it for.

Thanks for the info! I guess I'll go with the modbo then, a bit cheaper too on most sites.

Also, one more thing - I've found MI 1.93 and 1.99 chips at pretty decent prices. What's the difference between these two versions? From searching these forums a lot of people are recommending 1.93, I was wondering why would they recommend this over the newer version? (Keep in mind it's for the slim 90001).

The Matrix 1.93 was the last firmware The Matrix team ever put out.

Not sure what the 1.99 is.
