Hi, I've recently bought a RROD xbox that i fixed. It turned out the xbox was firmware modded, i think it's iXtreme 1.51 since wave 3 games work. I wanted to know if there was any way i could get the OFW from the drive still? Since i didn't mod it. I don't exactly need it right now, but i feel it is really important to have. Thanks

Any copy of original MS28 firmware will work. As long as you have your DVD key you will be fine.

Simply read the drive's current firmware using iPrep or Jungle Flasher and you will get the dvd drive's key.

Awesome thank you so much!! One more thing though. I had trouble getting the drive read in JF. I was able to get into vendor mode, or whichever mode it goes into before you click read. But when i click read it says 2 very short lines of text, the first saying invalid something and the next having a short code in the form 0xaa. I did the half open tray thing.

You need to have a 6421 card and power cycle the drive to get it in vendor mode. Do you have a via card?

Does the drive eject on it's own? Try another port on your via card. Did you check the port setting in JF to make sure the correct one is selected?

I'm using the same port i flashed the benq with. I couldn't get it detected with the other port. But will give it a go. Nope the drive doesn't eject by itself, i press the eject button then pull the power when it's half open and put the power back into the drive. Is it supposed to eject on it's own?

It should eject if you push the power button. Do this. Eject with button, pull power, push try half way in. Plug power back in, do an intro. Click yes and pull power again and plug back in. Work?

Thanks for the advice. Um my via pc is preoccupied till the weekend but going to defnitly try this straight ASAP! Ok so do i click sammy unlock then press the 360 power button? Then it ejects? Then i pull the power plug of the drive or the 360 out? Then i plug that power back in? Then do the intro. Then do the 1sec unplug and plug back in thing right? Thanks again
