One month after announcing its release in Europe, Harman Kardon has announced it will release its first Blu-ray player, dubbed the BDP-1, in North America as well. The BDP-1 will also have "advanced audio codec support and will play back 1080/24p videos without pulldown conversion." A USB slot allows for JPEG and DivX playback from flash drives. 500? Sheesh. That's almost my rent payment. You would think the price of this stuff would be going down considering how long it has been mainstream. I could get a used car for 500 bucks :-/

Effing BD needs to come down in price. Too bad HD-DVD had to bite the dust leaving BD as the only game in town.

Typical... it's for those who have a religious tilt towards branding.

This particular model will be so outdated shortly... if it isn't already!

In the early days of CDs you could pay an absolute fortune on a player if you so choose... thousands if you were a real wanker.

I remember HK made really good speakers years ago, they would probably hold their value better.
