I have the Serial ATA PCI adapter card and the slax disc. I've already modded the console but I need to update. and I can't get jungleflasher to recognize. Please help me asap, I'm getting frustrated. Yes, I've used the search function and I can't find anything useful. Thanks in advance
Alright, since you said you used the search function I guess I'll believe you.
Connect everything like you were going to flash the drive. Open the tray, unplug the power from the drive. Now turn plug the power back in and press eject. If it takes two presses, it is now in mode B, if it takes one, try again.
If in mode B, scan for hardware changes, JF should recognize.
Yes, you do this with the xbox while the computer is on, and no you don't need the slax disc. Remember, pull the power either from the xbox itself or the drive. If you pull it from the drive be sure to put it back in right, not upside down.
should I have the sata cable that goes into my xbox disc drive, plugged into the SATA port on my motherboard (Dell XP 8400) or plug it into my Serial ATA PCI Adapter card?

Yes you need the firmware for your drive. If you don't have the original firmware you also need to download the original firmware. If the firmware pack you are referencing is the one I use, it will have both in it. Sorry I can't give a specific link to it as I haven't had to download it in a while.
And read the Jungleflasher tut on their website, or just google how to flash a hitachi with JF.
You have to restore to stock FW, then flash with 1.51. Its a very simple process if you get JF to recognize it, you aren't far away at all. Just read the tut and go step by step.

Wow, does your mother still bathe you?
Wow, can you say anything less helpful? I was asking a question, anticipating an answer since afterdawn has been really helpful to me. Then people like you come along and remind me why I've lost faith in humanity as a whole. I hope your post boosted your "internet cred/ego". So congratulations, I've had more constructive conversations with myself while on the toilet...
PS thank you jcalton88 for helping me, I finally updated my firmware. People like you are the reason afterdawn is awesome.
