I'm just wondering if anyone here has actually used bootmii to recover a bricked/semi-bricked system. It's all fine and dandy that people are using it to back up their NAND's, but is it working to recover them?

Also, on a side note, can you use someone else's NAND backup to recover your system?

I don't have any first hand experience because I refuse to brick my Wii. It's just the way I am. Even if I was 100% sure I could come back to life I wouldn't kill myself. Is it cowardly or smart? Who knows?

There are videos of people doing it on youtube.
And I have heard stories of people recovering from a brick.

Just the fact that it loads before the system menu and allows you to enter the hombrew channel before anything else is enough to recover from a banner brick by going to wad manager and uninstalling the bad wad.

The monster bricks where people delete their system menu (like by using wad manager to uninstall a wad of IOS60) and such are the kind you would use a backed up nand for.

I always tell people to make sure that their computer can read their nand backup before feeling that they are safe. It should be copied to your computer or put on a disc as well as having it on the SD card if you have a spare.

And you can't use someone else's nand to recover your system.
