Hello, I am new to soft mod, I have a wiikey, and the launch wii. I had updated through Nintendo to 4.0U before even considering wadinstaller, and bannerbomb.
I have followed bannerbomb's tutorial, and was able to get homebrew channel installed, and bootmii (which I have no idea what it does, but I think it can help to unbrick if necessary).
I go to install wadinstaller 1.4, and it runs, but I get errors on any wad i am trying to install. I have been trying to do this on my own for hours, and am kinda sad :(
Any help would be appreciated, is this even possible? Not sure what to do now... Thanks
Looks great! Thanks! One question... how do I get Wad Installer to appear in the homebrew channel? Thanks again! I love this forum... the only place to go, honestly.
I can run wad installer when I keep it in the root directory, and name it boot.elf, but I can't figure out how to display it in the homebrew channel off the sd card. Does it need to be in a directory? Is the wad installer have some kind of a gui when run through the homebrew channel? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks again,
Another good forum is GBATemp, just so you know. There's a lot of good info there that you won't find even here.
To get any app to show in Homebrew Channel you have to name it "boot.dol" and have it in a sub-folder of the "apps" folder, so it would look like this for wad manager:
SDCardRoot/apps/WadManager/boot.dol
There are two other files that are NOT needed, but often included for aesthetic purposes: icon.png and meta.xml. They go in the same folder as the corresponding boot.dol app.
Also for WadManager to find your WADs, you need to have them in a "wad" folder in the root of the SD card.
The WadManager does not have a GUI but is very easy to use. Select the location of the WADs, in your case the Wii SD Slot. Then press "+" on the WAD you want to install, and press "A" to confirm.
