You should use 249.

cios38 just means that cios38 is a custom ios based on the original IOS38

If you can and do use 38 to install it, it will still install to the 249 slot because that is where it was made to install to.

It won't get installed to 38 no matter what you try. And that's probably a good thing as far as keeping the original 38 intact is concerned.

As AMatthews stated.

All cIOS revisions install to the IOS249 slot.

The IOS you choose when running the Installer is the IOS that will run the installer during the update. It doesn't mean it will install to that IOS.

The cIOS will always install to the IOS249 slot.

So just keep it set to default which is usually IOS249 when you have a cIOS already installed.

You need to patch MK and a few other games to IOS249 so they can play from a Backup launcher.

How do you patch them?

It is actually easy.

Download IOS Patcher which you can get HERE.

Now drag your ISO of the game you want patched into IOSPatcher.exe and a DOS box will come up. It will ask what IOS you want to patch the ISO to. All you need to do is type 249 then enter.

Now the game is patched to use IOS249 when playing the game.

All you need to do is burn the ISO to disc and play.

HERE is a compatibility list of games. the list also tells you what games need to be patched to IOS249.

Yeah I would always check games in the compatibility list that Larry posted.

There's also one for the USB Loader: http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php/U...e_Compatibility

And thanks for the read only thing. Just another thing to think about if someone is having problems.
