I have been reading through threads and threads of information and none of which I found useful in my situation. I have read that in order to help be sure that an iso folder (game) is able to be played once coppied to your memory stick, you should access the recovery mode by holding the R shoulder button and turning your system on. The problem I am having is that when I go to turn my psp on and hold the R button, it continues to turn on as if I wasn't pushing any button. I am sure the button is working and I have also tried taking out the battery and replace it. I have read that it may be "bricked" and what not, but none of the people can put it into dunce peoples words for people like me. What do I need to do exactly to get the iso games to work on my psp other than the taking appart of the battery and the psp? If I were to take it appart and screw it up which is like me, I won't have another shot, so I need the safe way. Please someone help. :P Thanks!

Also, I have read about custom and official firmware and I have never downloaded anything. I just made an ISO folder and transfered the game. Where would I need to go for the firmware?
I'm sorry for my ignorance, I'm just new at this, and I need told from scratch. Sorry. :P

I have had some experience with this, but very little. See, I have had someone to do this for mine, a few months ago, and now I am trying to do the same for a friends psp thin, and it wont work. I have their memory stick the same exact as mine and the games I had put on their mem stick works on my psp so it has to be their psp. Annyone have any ideas? I still haven't found anything useful for my situation yet.

If the PSP does not have custom firmware, then opening the recovery menu won't work. You would need to install a custom firmware to your psp, which allows you to play ISO's, and homebrew's and mods, etc. There are tons of guides all over this forum to help you get a custom firmware up and running, the resources you need will be found in one of those threads.
If your psp is hacked already and this isn't working, you may just not be turning it off all the way first. Meaning hold the power button for a few seconds to turn it off, rather than flicking it for half a second.

I have been turning it off completely, and I even took out the battery and I still have no luck. This psp I am currently trying to work with has not been hacked and I have not tried to download any firmware to it. Could you by any chance give me a link to a guide to custom firmware or whatever it takes to play iso files I have on the memorystick?

So, just ignoring my post or something?
Hacking a PSP is like surgery. You are screwing with it's insides and if you don't know what you're doing, you can cause it to go into a nearly permanent coma. Would you give someone open-heart surgery with no training?
I know, blown way out of proportion, but doing your research is a good idea in this situation. It helps instill confidence in what you're doing and makes a costly screw up less likely, or should one occur, cause you not to panic, and know the solution.

No, not ignoring your post, just doing long drawn out research, like you have just mentioned.
But you are putting it in perfect terms, and I have understood that from start.
Like you said, it is costly.
But so far I have figured that my psp is indeed a 3000 model, the silver kind, and it is near impossible to hack, says the way more professional hackers, but they have found several items that I can use until it is possible to hack, and the items are as follows:
-ChickHEN Homebrew Enabler
-Unlimited Character Version and Mac Address Spoofer
-RCO Patcher
-CTF Extracter for PC
-Descrambler Patcher
But now that I have found that I need these, I need to find where to put them.
Hopefully that is everything I need and I'm not mistaking anything or leaving anything out.

All right... I assumed by "PSP thin" you meant the 2000 model, which, depending on the motherboard revision, can be fully hacked, with actual CFW, not stuff for chickHEN. So, for a 3000, I guess all you'd need would be the chickHEN files, and what you need to do for CFW enabler.
But some background never hurts ;)

A CFW enabler?
What would that do?
Right now, I am working on getting the chickHEN set up and I have come across some issues, but I am getting those cleared up now.
Do you know of what else I would need for my 3000 model other than the chickHEN and CFW enabler (which I don't know anything about.)that I will need to get ISO folders working, or just get SOMETHING like that?
Sorry I am being so noobish and what not. ):
