I need some guidance as to what procedure to follow to update my firmware
Firstly i have all the necessary tools i need ie: CK3 with probe and i have a VIA chipset
What i would like to know is if upgrading my benq firmware to 1.6 will solve the issue of backups appearing as normal unplayable DVD's in my console, if I'm not mistaken the new wave 3 games are the ones causing this?
If so what procedure is the best to follow to update my firmware ie: should i use jungle flasher or go into dos and do it from there?
Also during which ever procedure i use should i restore the original firmware i have or go straight to erase and flash?

You will only need the VIA card and the CK3 Connectivity kit since it is a BenQ.

If your firmware is below ix1.51, you won't be able to play wave 3 games.

You can use a couple of methods, but I find Jungle Flasher to be the easiest.

With BenQ you don't have to restore original firmware. Just get the drive in vendor mode.
Dump the firmware.
JF will autospoof for you.
Write the firmware.
0800 firmware will allow you to rip your 360 games with your 360 DVD drive. As of right now, 0800 firmware can be flashed to Samsung, BenQ, and Lite-ON. Hitachi will come soon.
You just need to make sure to use iXtreme 1.6. The one I have listed is the dedicated 0800 firmware for iXtreme 1.6
