Hey my buddy is asking for help with his psp 3000 and I'm a bit confused on custom firmware vs. custom firmware enabler. I know that you have to use ChickHEN r2 in order to "flash" the cfw but is this the same thing as the m33 firmwares?

What is the name of the cfw for psp 3000 and once its flashed do you have to run it every time you power up psp or is like m33 where its flashed to the internal memory and its there for good?

Thanks for your help.

OK so I bit the bullet and went ahead full steam. I ran ChickHEN R2 and then "flashed" CFW GEN-A. Everything went swimmingly but after a cold reboot I'm back to OFW. Is this how its suppose to run? That kind of blows.

Oh well, back to my phat running m33 to play some snes.

unfortunately yes that is "how it goes" as of right now. However you can put the psp into sleep mode and it will keep the custom firmware running in memory so its not a total loss. If you always keep your psp charged youll never have to cold boot.

good point. That's what I'm doing. At least psp-3000 users can enjoy benefits of custom firmware

uh, yeah you can. That's what I'm talking about. GEN-A loads iso's perfectly. You just lose it on cold reboot.

Don't worry about the post but you should be way excited. You can run iso's and cso's on your psp 3000! Thats awesome news!

I was just about to sell it on here, I have a post up about it and just got a PM the other day. I might have to rethink that now that I can finally do what I want with it.

Not sure if this works, but I've heard that you shutdown your PSP before you press O (circle) to boot into CFW, it becomes there forever, even when you cold boot.
