I am currently trying to get iso files(games) to work on my silver psp thin and they will not open. I have created an iso file and most of the time the game will not even show up. I have a snes and gameboy emulator and those are the only files that show up when the psp is started. I was told to go and access the recovery mode by holding the R button and turning it on for about 5 seconds. I have tryed doing this everyway possible and I can't access the recovery mode. Do I need to have a 3.40 OE-A custom firmware installation? I have no idea what that is or where to get it, somebody said something about that and Devhook 0.52 and 0.46 installations. Can somebody please tell me what I need to do to get these iso files to show up and play on my silver psp thin? I have not downloaded any sort of firmware or anything on it and I want to avoid the whole taking appart of the system and the battery, plus I cannot access the recovery mode by following instrucions of R button and power switch.

Well first off the recovery menu is found on custom firmware only, so since yours has not been modded then you would not be able to access it.
Next, the fact that you have a silver psp makes me think that its a ratchet and clank version which believe is a 3000 series and can not be fully modded with custom firmware. You can only use chickenHEN installer.
This link tells you about it.

Thanks man, but I have encountered yet another difficulty.
I have found the ChickHEN Homebrew Enabler and other things that are said to be part of what will make it work, but I cannot find where to place them on the memory card.
But I do infact have the ChickHEN downloaded on the my comp and awaiting transfer.
Do you know any thread that could possible give some pretty easy directions on where to place the things and how to use it all?

Your ChickHEN download should have came with two folders.. Or at least mine did.. You can get the one I got Here.
There will be two folders inside, one that says "PHAT" and one that says "SLIM". Open the folder that says "SLIM" and then open the folder that says, "ChickHEN". Transfer the TIFF image onto your PSP into your PHOTO folder. This folder can be found in your PSP folder. If it's not there, then make a new folder and name it "PHOTO".
Once you have the TIFF image transferred onto your PSP, then go to back to where you saw the "PHAT" and "SLIM" folders and there should be a file there called, "h.bin". Transfer this file to the root of your memory stick. (The first part you see when you click on your PSP's drive letter)
After you get all that done, then your PSP should be able to boot into ChickHEN.
Sorry I made it so.. "Noobish" sounding. But you wanted easy directions :)
Enjoy :)

Thank you man, this is exactly what I need is noob instructions because I am completely new at this and I have NO experience.
But I came across a problem, your instructions were perfect, but I did all of that, and the only evidence that the chickHEN is on my MemStick is that there is the picture. Then I go to the picture and it freezes a moment and then shuts down completely.
Is there something I didn't do or put on it before I went to the ChickHEN?
I can't thank you enough for putting it the way you did for me though, I can't understand any of the other stuff. ):
But do you have any idea to what may be the problem I am encountering now?

Sorry, it was late last night and I didn't get to finish what I was typing.. Anyways, go back to that file that you downloaded. Open the "SLIM" folder and then open the "ChickHEN" folder. Now go on your PSP and open your "PSP" folder and then open your "PHOTO" folder. Make a new folder in your "PHOTO" folder and just leave it named as "NewFolder". It doesn't matter what you name it really..
Now copy those other 4-5 images into the "NewFolder" along with the TIFF image. You should already have that "h.bin" file in the root of your memory stick but just make sure it's there.
Now, disconnect your PSP and go to your pictures, click on the picture icon but DO NOT open the new folder that you made.. Give it a few seconds to load and then click on the folder. Give it a few seconds and your screen should flash a green color and then go blank and restart itself.
When it comes back on, go to your system settings and it should say: Firmware Version: "5.03 ChickHEN R2"
Hope that helps :)

Alright, everything you said makes perfect sense, but I came across some odd situations.
Like you said about the root, right after I click my computer in the start menu of my computer and click the memory card , I get to the screen that lists all of the folders on the memory stick, but there is also a folder called MP ROOT. Do I click on that folder or do I just add the h.bin to that screen?
Another strange situation was that when you told me to copy the TIFF image to the photo folder inside the psp folder, there was already a folder in the "root" of the memory stick, the 1st screen of the memory stick (not the MP ROOT folder) named PICTURE, is the considered the same as in the psp folder? I just followed your directions and created another folder inside the psp folder and named it PHOTO.
The third was about the 4-5 images along with the TIFF.
With those images (The TIFF and the giff) there was a data base file. Does that move along with the rest of the folders or do I leave it alone?
I must be making some noob mistake because I go to access the photos on my psp, I sit and let everything load for a good 10 to 15 seconds then click the new folder file and let it load about the same time, and nothing happens at all. I see picture of eggs, and each one is named ChickHENa, ChickHENb, ChickHENc, ChickHENd, and slim.
So I am getting no blank screen or green flash from opening the photos.
):
I'm very sorry I am making this so much harder than it probably is.

1. No don't click on the MP_ROOT folder. Just add the h.bin file to the empty space you see.
2. Yes that picture folder is pretty much the same thing, but I just put my PHOTO folder in my PSP folder. So that's why I told you to put it there :)
3. No. Don't worry about the data base file.
If that's not working for you then watch what the guy does in this Youtube video and try that out..
Watch it here
It may take a few attempts but you'll get it. Just if it freezes up on you, let it restart and then try again. If it flashes the green screen and reboots then you'll have ChickHEN. Hope this helps :)

Dude, you help alot!
Whats in this for you? Lol, your going all out of your way just to help me, a noobish noob. :O
But I think that I know why it isn't working.
I just stumbled across a video that tells you exactly what a psp 3000 is and I think the guy that told me I had one steered me wrong. ):
The back doesn't have a slim circle around the psp, and there is not speaker on the bottom next to the volume button. Plus The sticker on the bottom says it is 2001.
But why does it say I have a version 4.05 system software?
Another thread that showed me the run through told me if I have 4.05 its the un hackable.
Do you know what I should do now?
Is is a 3000 or 2000?
I'm so confused and I wouldn't blame you if you stopped helping me. D:

if the sticker on the bottom says 2001 then its a 2001 "2000" model and should be modifiable.
Sorry about the confusion on the last post i forgot about the Daxter Ice Silver Bundle - Released September 5, 2007
I think it is fully modifiable.
I sent you a personal message with details on how.
