I got a lite-on drive that is already flashed with iextreme 1.4 or 1.5 (my guess is 1.4), I dont really know which one because I got it moddded. I would like to know if im able to update it to 1.6 without a key extractor. And if its possible to determine what is the iextreme version. :)
I don't know if you can easily find out what version you already have... but quite honestly, it doesn't matter. As long as you have a version of it, you can upgrade quite easily. Check the URL I posted for a tutorial.
You won't need a key extractor if it is already flashed. Get JF properly running on your computer (PortIO driver + .Net framework 2.0 or higher). Eject the drive, shut it off and press the tray in half way. Turn the drive back on and load up JF. Go to the DVDkey tab and make sure it recognizes your Lite-ON drive. Once recognized, you will click "dummy from iXtreme". That will get all of your data (Key, Inquiry, Identify, and serial data".
