Hey guys!
My Sv 2 box went approx 2-3 mnths ago and while i was waiting on all you gifted guys to try resolve the problem i decided to disconnect it and connect back up my c****s box and monitor afterdawn frequently to see if anyone had found the solution.But its obvious to me that its basicly f'd!!
But my question is,how come 3 of my mates in the portarlington area have not lost theirs?bought at the same time,same provider etc.
I dont live in portarlington but im about 10 min drive from there?
anyone tell me why?
And sorry for starting a new thread but im not aloud post my question under an exsting "help me" thread as ive just found out.

maybe because you have older software on your box, they prob had theirs updated to the latest image,check your menu on the starview 2 the box, you should have the v4.57 on it.

Menu >> system info API Version. ??

thanks for replying,my version is API ver 4.50e_E.i dont know what version they have when i find out i'll let you know.If it is the case that theirs has been updated,does that mean mine will be operational if i get mine updated?

yippee!haha.and there was me just browsing for the sv 4 or the eurovox.now just to find someone to do it for me as i dont have the hardware to update it.

you could just take down the key 00 and key 01 from your friends box (in the nagravision menu) and put them in yours as a temp fix till you get firmware updated

just tried that cathal and no joy!!when i do an automatic scan it finds some of the channels and then when i exit and attempt to view it just says updating and stays on 0%.i can get rte 1 and thats it apart from 1 or 2 others that arent worth mentioning.spoke to the tech guy that updated my mates box and he said the same as you to input the codes and it should work.

as i have said put the V4.57 on it and it will work, you just need to set the default key

ive been to pc world and d.i.d electrical just to name a few looking for the adapter that will allow me to connect the rs232 cable to my laptop via usb but im not having any joy.ive been told petes and maplins might do them but i have to wait until im in dublin.

Get one on fleabay they are much cheaper than Peats. Or if a friend or family member has a desktop it will have a 9 pin serial port and you will not need the adapter only the null modem cable.

hey guys,sorry to be a pest again!but ive bought the usb serial converter and i have my laptop connected to my box now.
Is there anyone who can guide me through the updating process as ive searched around the threads and i realise i need the gtrom loader v 4.03 but i cant find where to download that.

sorry guys ive found the gtrom loader v 4.03 but the problem im having now is that it wont allow me to drag the bin file to the gtrom loader section binfile.any ideas what im doing wrong?

haha have that sorted now and my com port is right....................but....when i press download after approx 5 seconds it says flash failed.ive tried with box on standby and on.talk about learning things the hard way!!
