Alright, this is about a few weeks since I started TRYING to hack this psp I have and I have researched nonstop till 4am everyday but got nothing out of this except many useless programs and a big brain of confusion.
I am going to try to state my problem again and I hope to God someone can come and fix it with ease. I know there are people out there that know exactly what is going on and can explain to me plain and simple.
Fist off I will tell you what I am working with.
I have:
-a windows VISTA laptop.
-a silver 2001 model psp thin, with system software version 4.05.
-a 4 gb memory stick SanDisk Pro Duo Magic Gate.
-a Sony psp battery pack 3.6v 1200mAh
-about 4 more days until I need to have this psp finished.
-no money to buy another battery, memory stick, or psp.
(So I cannot take apart the psp or battery and I cannot buy an already modded battery)
I have gone through these situations and nothing has worked:
-tried using the ChickHEN files.
-tried using many different homebrews.
-tried accesing the recovery mode.
-tried using many different tutorials, and instructions.
I am out of ideas and I am so lost and confused on what to do first so I am pretty much toast unless someone can come and walk me through it.
I am sorry for my dense self and noob thoughts but I just can't get through this easily like everybody makes it out to seem.
Please please please someone get to me and put some sense out.
Thank you for whoever decides to help this useless sob.

ChickHEN R2 won't work unless you updated first to official firmware(system software version) 5.03. Then run chickhen as described.

I just went here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/616311 to do the whole official firmware update and after I installed the things I needed (step1 and step2)as instructed. I transfered them like he explained, and then I went to continue on to the next steps, and when I went to open the m33 updates and what not like was explained, I get a message that says "The game could not be started."
Then the guy goes to explain that if I get that message I should access the recovery mode but my psp WONT access the recovery mode.
I tried several ways to access it, as in take out the battery and replace it and it doesn't work. I'm sure I know how to turn my psp off completely.
Is there something I'm missing?
Some step before this firmware thing?

No no no. That guide is to update to M33 firmware (custom firmware). If you're on official firmware 4.05 you need to update to official firmware 5.03 for ChickHEN to work.. You can download the 5.03 firmware below..
Download Here
Then when you update to 5.03 ChickHEN should work :)

Rename it to UPDATE.PBP and place it in your PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder. If there's not an update folder then make one.
Then go under game and run it and it's all good :)

Do this but this time do not rename EBOOT.PBP and the UPDATE folder should all be in uppercase letters.

Alright, I got it updated to 5.03!
So, now what is the next step to get my iso's working?
Is the only way the chickHEN or is there another way?

Well, since my last message, I got the whole chickHEN thing to work, and I can get my snes and gba emulators working, but I still can't get my iso files to even show up, let alone work.
I thought about accessing the recovery mode thing, to change the settings, but I can't access that either.
So how can I get my iso's to work?
Thats the biggest thing I need, just the iso's to work.
