please somebody assit me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have been using the wonderful dvdshrink for a couple of years now and copying recordings from my private collection for friends in the states(i live in the UK)without any problem. just lately, though, i am hearing american friends telling me the discs i have sent them are showing `incompatible` on their dvd players!!!!is this some sort of update, that i need to locate.? i have checked that my version of dvdshrink does, indeed, still show ¬convert to region free¬, and it appears to be fine, but why are my discs suddenly becoming unreadable in a different country , when i have done them without hitch for almost two years now????!!!!
any advice would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks.......
There isn't any region coding on the burned disk, it's because they are PAL disks and their standalone players probably want NTSC format (North American standalone players typically won't play PAL disks - unlike the case in the UK where the players accept both).
They either play them on the PC (which doesn't care about PAL/NTSC) or they have to be converted to NTSC and re-authored back to disk.
Converting to the other format means losing any menu on the movie.
thanks for reply, but still baffled as to how the other dozens of discs i have been copying for the last two years have played in the american players without hitch. they have been pal discs bought in the UK, then received in the US, and played fine without any problems...
yes, i always test discs before despatch, and i am presuming they play on US standalone players, as dozens of ppl have received from me, without any comment. i am wondering if it depends on WHAT part of the US you send discs to, as loads of areas have played perfectly until now. or maybe it depends what manufacturer of player the US recipient has?

Yes it does. What you haven't exactly spelled out is if the same folks who got your stuff in the past can no longer play your latest DVDs on the same player they have always used. Another question might be are you using the same blanks?
i didnt really ask them which specific players were allowing my discs to be played: i figure if they had run into any problems, i would likely have heard from them, quick enough. also, i can see no correlation with the brand of discs, as i have been using the maxell ones i have, just now, for ages, and without problem, so i guess it will have to remain a mystery.
