hi guys, I Got a hitachi 79 that i wanna spoof to a BenQ. The problem is that it wont open at all. Can anyone throw some hints or tips my way that will enable me to dump the drive even though it wont unlock or give me some idea on how to do this. Thanks in advance
First you will need the 79unlock cd, When you dl it open up the folder and drag the 79unlock cmd file to a clear space in your c: drive, I use slax to get the drive into mode b, once in mode b eject the tray on xbox and insert the 79 unlock cd, play it once on the xbox and then play again and then pause it straight away. Then on pc goto start/ run and type cmd, that will bring a command window up then type cd c:\ make sure you leave a space between cd and c and then press enter, you will then see c:\> type 79unlock d where d is your drive letter, press enter and it should say done, and thats it, its unlocked you can now dump the firmware. Also Burn the 79unlock cd with imgburn, you can also do all of this with jf but doesnt seem to work very good on my pc!!
Hi mate, Have you tried unplugging the 360 and plugging it back in, mine did that when i tried unlocking it with jungleflasher, but you will have to do the slax part again to get it back into mode b!
No mate. A friend has brought his console round wondering if i can repair it and then flash it. the DVD drive wont open at all. I can here like a motor sound from the drive but nothing happens. Even if I open the tray manually, the disks wont attempt to read. The version is Hitachi 79FK, i can get it into mode b using jungleflasher but it wont attempt to read the 79 unlock disk at all.
Sounds like the laser is bolloxd, are you getting the open tray error, has he tried flashing it himself, maybe he did something wrong, Hitachi drives can be right pain in the arse?
Im getting all sorts, lol. I got the open tray error so i manually opened the tray using the paper clip method. I then put the cd in and it wont even attempt to read. When i press the eject button of the xbox, i can hear the motor attempt to open/close it but thats as far as i got.
If I buy a hitachi Drive and put my 79 pcb in, do you think it may clear up or do you think its unrepairable
Yeh it probably would, thats what i did with on of my 78 drives, i got rrod which i totally f**ked up, I fixed the rrod but was putting some vent lights on it and screwed through a wire and blew my fans so bought a 78 drive off someone for £20 who was getting open tray error, tried eveything to fix it but nothing, so i swapped the pc boards on the good drive from my rrod xbox and it now works flawlessly
