Hello all. I recently purchased a used ps2 slim for $10 with the understanding that it did not read most discs. After getting it home I have discovered that it does't play anything at all. It doesn't recognize PS2 discs, PS1 discs, DVD's, or CD's. I am assuming the laser is completely shot. When I load a new disc it appears to try to play it, but I receive a message that it is unable to read the disc. The disc does move when close the lid and it attempt to load, so I assume that indicates the motor is still functional. My question is, where do I begin to determine whether it is the laser that needs to be replaced and are there any reputable guides for changing out the laser? If anyone has any idea or requires more information in order to make a determination, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
