Hey everyone, today I tried my hand at flashing my hitachi v59 for the first time. I put my 360 into mode b using slax 2, then I used firmware toolbox 4.8 to back up my firmware and saved my key, then I uploaded the ix 1.51 firmware and saved my key to that firmware, but during the flashing I got an error that said I couldn't write to that sector, and it happened several times.

Afterwards I tried to put my 360 back into mode b to see if the firmware flashed properly but it wouldn't go back into mode b. Otherwise the 360 still works and play originals. I just don't know if the flash was successful because I don't have any backups to test because I don't have any DL dvd's to make backups of the games that I own.

Does anything sound out of place? and yes my pc did detect the hitachi

Try dumping the firmware with Jungle Flasher and see what it says. You can also use Jungle Flasher to get the drive into Mode B without Slax.

it might be bricked. Hitachis are pretty easy to do that to. could you try using jungleflasher and see if it is able to read it?

I tried using jungle flasher but I couldn't get it to send mode b to my drive. I think something might be wrong with the port IO23 thing, I had to install it manually, is it a vista problem? JF recognized my drive in the dropdown menu on the right, but it wouldn't detect it under port properties

edit: do bricked drives play games? because mine does

If Windows recognized it, it is in Mode B. WinAPI has a weird way of doing that. You should be able to dump the firmware.

That's the thing, it won't go into mode b anymore slax 2.1 doesn't work anymore, and the jungle flasher method didn't work from the start.
